چکیده
Abstract The frequency‐domain electromagnetic induction method is a very efficient and convenient to investigate site of interest for large range applications including hydrogeology archaeology. Besides an easy infield acquisition, the data can be used estimate electrical, magnetic and, in certain cases, dielectric properties ground. It does, however, require calibration get reliable quantitative values these properties. We propose here original self‐calibration method, specific multi‐frequency measurements (5–100 kHz)‐based only on consistency between at different acquisition frequencies. Contrary other existing cross‐calibration procedures, no additional with methods are necessary. This (quadrature in‐phase components signal) procedure tested test located centre studies risks, environment, mobility urban planning Normandie‐Centre facilities (Rouen, France). developed quadrature has been successfully compared usual electrical resistivity tomography – procedure. main results reveal potential systematic assessment all parameters from multi‐configuration data: susceptibility estimated low‐frequency range, whereas highest part frequency permittivity.

Detection and classification from electromagnetic induction data
In this paper we introduce an efficient algorithm for identifying conductive objects using induction data derived from eddy currents. Our method consists of first extracting geometric features from the induction data and then matching them to precomputed data for known objects from a given dictionary. The matching step relies on fundamental properties of conductive polarization tensors and new ...
متن کاملInversion of Electromagnetic Models for Bare Soil Parameter Estimation from Multifrequency Polarimetric SAR Data
The potentiality of polarimetric SAR data for the estimation of bare soil geophysical parameters (i.e., roughness and soil moisture) is investigated in this work. For this purpose, two forward models available in the literature, able to simulate the measurements of a multifrequency radar polarimeter, have been implemented for use within an inversion scheme. A multiplicative noise has been consi...
متن کاملIdentification of buried unexploded ordnance from broadband electromagnetic induction data
A procedure is described for computing range and orientation invariant spectral signatures of buried unexploded ordnance (UXO) from electromagnetic induction (EMI) data. The normalized eigenvalues of the magnetic polarizability tensor that characterizes the target response are used as the orientation-invariant spectral signatures. It is shown that the eigenvalues can be normalized with respect ...
متن کاملTarget Shape Classification Using Electromagnetic Induction Sensor Data
Classification based on shape is central to the problem of discriminating between unexploded ordnance (UXO) and clutter. Most UXO fit a specific profile: they are long and slender with typical length-to-diameter aspect ratios of four or five. Most clutter items, on the other hand, do not fit this profile. Using electromagnetic induction (EMI) sensor data, we present a model-based estimation pro...
متن کاملTarget Detection and Characterization from Electromagnetic Induction Data∗
This paper aims to advance the field of nondestructive testing by eddy currents. It provides a mathematical and numerical framework for imaging small volume conductive inclusions of arbitrary shapes from electromagnetic induction data. The effect of measurement noise on the localization and characterization approach developed in this paper is investigated. Mathematics Subject Classification (MS...
